About NITP Membership

The nucleus of what is today known as “the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP)” was formed by nine passionate planning professional who believed in the collective drive towards a sustainable settlements and cities.

With over 5,000 members worldwide and more than 50 years of history, NITP has become an institution with a repository of knowledge and technical expertise in Urban Planning. Our members abide by the highest professional and ethical standards, which mean employers, clients and the wider public trust them.

The NITP is an advocate for best practice in planning at all levels of government and in the international arena. We give planners a voice in shaping the planning system.

NITP membership is your gateway to networking and knowledge transfer. Whether you prefer to attend events, networking or training in person or online, your membership will connect you with others with similar interests.

We offer a membership class to suit you at all stages of your career – from student, graduate, mid-career to retirement.

Membership Dues/Subscription

Every member of the NITP has a statutory obligation to pay an annual membership due which varies for each membership status. Payment of this dues provides members with access to a number of benefit.

Some of the benefits of being a member of NITP and paying your annual dues includes:

Use the designation MNITP or FNITP and logo to showcase your knowledge and expertise.

Also, according to the NITP Constitution, it is mandatory for all members to pay their annual dues to avoid revocation of membership which has a lot of implications attached to it.
